Course title: OCR GCE A Level ICT

Course content: H117 AS

Throughout the course of study candidates are encouraged to become discerning users of ICT, developing a broad range of ICT skills and knowledge and understanding of ICT.

In the first unit the following theoretical topics are covered; Data, Information, Knowledge and Processing; Software and Hardware components; Characteristics of standard applications software; Spreadsheets; Databases; Presentations and Communications Software; and finally the role and impact of ICT.

In the second unit several coursework tasks are completed to examine practical application of ICT. These are set tasks.

The first two units are completed during the AS course.

Assessment

Unit G061 – Information, Systems and Applications – 2hr written paper with both long and short questions – 30% of A Level (60% of AS)

Unit G062 – Structured ICT Tasks – Coursework – 20% of A Level (40% of AS)
