Welcome to the ICT Department

The teaching of ICT at offers students opportunities to:

  • prepare for their future in a rapidly changing world of education, technology and work where everyday activities are increasingly transformed by access to ICT
  • develop independence and initiative with regard to their own learning
  • gain access to the ideas and experiences of a wide range of people, communities and cultures from around the world and thereby gain greater understanding of the universally held values and ethics that underpin our society, lives and relationships

Within ICT lessons, students acquire and apply knowledge and understanding of:

  • the quality and reliablity of information and how to access and combine increasing amounts of information;
  • a range of increasingly complex tasks using a variety of ICT tools
  • how ICT can help their work in other subjects, developing their ability to judge when and how to use ICT and where it has limitations
  • the application and use of ICT in the outside world

There are four aspects of study in ICT

  • finding things out
  • developing ideas and making things happen
  • exchanging and sharing information;
  • reviewing, modifying and evaluating work as it progresses
